Who said you have to use a bookshelf?
Many of you already know about some of the recent events concerning various YouTube performers and allegations of sexual misconduct. When I read about this (and it seems to come and come right now), I thought, “I have nothing to add to this.” So I just watched. And was sad. And also heartened by…
Thank you for sharing your story and your perspective on these recent issues. I think this an important discussion concerning rape, consent, and what is accepted by society as “normal” for sexual relationships and interactions.
This is the scariest thing I’ve ever seen in my whole life.
Note: Rape is never okay.
The percentages should be 0% across the board… Society has failed.
To any of my artist friends,
If you find the time or just need some inspiration, please watch this discussion between Michelle Dunaway and Susan Lyon. It is insightful, encouraging and enlightening.
So many of the topics brought up are, word for word, thoughts that have crossed my mind. It is very reassuring to know you are not alone when you are discouraged, afraid, or just feeling out of your depth in the art world. It takes courage and a drive to just want to do what you love just because you love it; and want to do it to the best of your abilities, not for the money, the recognition. Just creating work that draws peoples attention to the simple beauty in everyday life, that inspires them to see the world in a new way. All because nothing else you can do brings you as much joy as painting, drawing - creating.
"What is it that you want to say?"
